I'm super late but I literally just saw this now and found it funny.
It reminded me of this guy in my online class who thought canada was in the US. And Washington and Washington DC were the same thing. And New Mexico was a city in Mexico. HELP.

And this is why geography and the like is important. So you don’t end up with people like this.

I recall someone wondering why anyone “would make a state and call it Turkey.” It’s not as concerning as your case, but I was very tempted to point out that Turkey’s a country.

@Cheeto That reminds me of something else, lol. One of my classes was playing a geography game where you had to guess the country, and someone shouted, "Augusta, Maine!" I literally stared at them for a good twenty seconds.

i love when people learn armenia exists or confuse South American countries with African countries, and yes, the UK and Great Britain are in fact different things. . .
