@MarkTwain2.0, Absolutely! I'll try to make sure I check in every now and again to leave feedback as I read through it. There's too many chapters for me to comment on all of them, but I'll try my best to comment as often as I can. I know how frustrating it can be to spend a lot of time and effort writing something, but get zero feedback. I feel like commenting is a way for us readers to pay the writer for their free work.

@MarkTwain2.0, You're welcome. Feel free to steal that, by the way. I wished more readers felt that way. I see too many stories on here with thousands of views, but less than a hundred comments. It's kind of sad in my opinion.

Yeah, this is happening with my story right now. I’m getting some pretty reasonable views and some likes, but not a lot of comments. 

@ItsAmelia, It can be really aggravating for a writer because what a lot of people don't realize, is that half of the comments that are shown in the stats are usually just the writer responding to a comment. That means, if you see a story has 10 comments, you can safely bet that probably only 5 of those comments are from the readers. Readers really do need to comment more, if they actually like what they're reading. Likes mean practically nothing to me at this point. They really only tell me that someone has acknowledged that what they have "liked" exists.

@Jay Ellis, Yes, that is exactly what’s going on. It makes me feel like my blog is more recognized than my book itself, and that makes me feel like my writing is bad. Heck, even my entries into contests get more likes and views than my book does, which I’ve spent years into making it. I know they don’t mean any harm, it’s just my anxiety that makes it worse.

@ItsAmelia, That will generally be the case. Don't let that discourage you about your book. It has a lot to do with attention spans. Blogs and contest entries are smaller in size and thus easier to consume. Blogs tend to get more comments because it's like having a conversation with someone. Contest entries get a lot of views and likes because everyone's writing on the same topic, and let's be honest, the other writers are wanting to know what their competition looks like.

Books, on the other hand, especially if there's a lot there to read, are a lot harder to get comments on because it actually takes time and effort. Some people wait until they finish the book before they write anything, which is fine, but I still feel very strongly that readers should comment more. Like I said to M in one of the previous comments, us writing comments should be seen as our way of paying the author for being generous enough to post their story for free. It's the comments that draw other readers in, not the view and like count. If people are commenting a lot on a story, other readers will see that as a sign that the story must be interesting enough to garner those comments.

@ItsAmelia, Never give up. It takes time. A good strategy would be to engage with others in the way that you would like them to engage with you. That doesn't mean to go out and engage with someone because you want them to do something for you in return. Rather, just shower the people who you like with love, and eventually, you'll realize that the same will be done for you naturally without coercion. Hope this helps. :)
