He smiled at her, watching her slowly scoop soup into her spoon. She was engrossed with gliding the spoon across the bowl, careful not to make any sound. He imagined those fine fingers curled around his neck, bite marks trailing down his collarbone.
She looked up to his smile, her eyes flicking up coyly. She let go of the spoon, giving him a deadly smirk. He rested his chin on his hands, breaking etiquette and placing his elbows on the table. She watched him, eyes flashing invitation.
His skin itched under his clothes, mentally forcing himself to move at glacier pace. Closing his eyes he breathed slowly through his nose, dissipating the image of her spread naked across the dining table. She tilted her head, her smirk breaking out into a grin.
“Tut tut Justin,” she purred, “what was that pretty head imaging?”
He didn’t reply, only picked up his spoon. She rolled her shoulders, the movement forcing him to flick his eyes up to watch.
“What’s your next target?” He asked, meeting her eyes.
“Someone fun.” She said, standing from her seat. “Someone we have been hunting for years.”
“Decades,” he offered, watching her smile pointedly.
“Decades.” She agreed.
She came closer, her steps clacking off the marble of the dining room floor. He breathed in the moment her perfume hit him, quieting a growl of desire that rumbled through him.
She came behind him, running a hand over his neck. Her second hand joined her first as she went under his shirt, her nails finding the marks she had left on him the night before. His toes curled, shoulders rising as she massaged, scratched, bit.
He pulled himself out of the chair, turning to her. She shrugged, once again rolling her shoulders. He knew why she kept doing that. He had slammed her into a car last night. Which has led to this… impasse.
He stepped closer, running a hand down her cheek. She leaned into him, letting him place his hands on her neck, glide across her shoulders. He turned her, gently massaging sore muscles.
“Sorry about that,” he ground out, his blood steaming, “you really need to take better care of yourself. Don’t they teach you how to fall correctly in that academy of yours?”
She grunted in response, her head rolling back so her caramel colored hair fell over his hands. He twisted one strand in his hands, absentmindedly remembering her washing it. The way her breasts rose when she lifted her arms to scrub at her scalp.
She pulled herself out of his hands, turning to meet his eyes. Blue on gold.
“No weaknesses, Justin? Accomplices? …Lovers?” she asked, beginning her morning stretches. She lifted her arms, groaning as bones popped, muscles stretched. She lifted a foot, stretching her calve.
“Not yet,” he smiled, “no one seemed… compatible.”
“What’s your type then?” she asked, bending down to touch her toes. He watched the nape of her neck, wanting to wrap a hand around it. To pull her closer, run his hands down every inch of her.
“I think,” he said slowly, waiting for her to finish. “Someone I shouldn’t want.”
She came closer, tying her hair back. “Ah. I know that feeling.”
“Yes.” He grinned, feeling his blood pound in his ears. Slowly she reached for him, her other hand clutching a knife.
He blocked her, pulling her in for a kiss. She bit his lip, laughing as she whirled away.
“So, you’re gonna fight dirty?” He asked, flicking out his claws.
“If I win this time, you have to come with me.” She said, lunging at him. He dodged, running hands across her stomach, over her back, down her arm. She tried not to lean in, to catch his scent.
“And if I win?” He laughed, pressing kisses against the nape of her neck. He roared as she reached behind him and slashed his arm. The silver in the dagger burned him, Justin releasing a hiss.
“Name it.” She shrugged, “although, I don’t think you’ll win. I have finally worked out your fighting style. Only took me three days.”
He slammed her against the wall, pushing the air out of her lungs. He held her hands up, the dagger clattering to the floor. Their hearts fluttered against each other, Justin pressing his chest into hers. He towered over her, his injured arm dripping golden blood down his sleeve.
“I think,” he breathed, leaning down to catch her lips. “I want to wed a monster hunter.”
He let her hands go as she jumped, twining her hands around his neck. He caught her as his hands pressed into her rump. She deepened the kiss, knowing he felt it too. The burning, the wanting, the hunger.
“Deal.” She whispered into his mouth as she swiped at him with a hidden dagger from her sleeve.
He laughed. A sound so rich and full of glee she lost concentration. She faulted, Justin slipping past her into the garden.
