Ezra, Lily, and Darius were standing outside the gates of the most terrifying abandoned house in the whole neighborhood. Maybe even the whole state. Thorn bushes decorated the outer gate of the house, cobwebs stuck hanging on the tops of walls. So...basically everyone's nightmare house.

Ezra took the first step into the front yard, slowly tiptoeing his way towards the splintery, beat-up door. The door was charcoal black, and some of the dry paint rubbed off on Ezra's palm.

The three of them stepped onto the creaky floorboards, not wanting to break them - well, anymore than they already were.

Lily clicked on her flashlight in the dim room. The flashlight flickered rapidly, as if something was trying to turn it off, trapping the three children in darkness. Something, or someone.

"I'm not afraid of a ghost!" Lily said, but no one responded. Not even Darius and Ezra to protest that they weren't either. They were too paralyzed by their own fear to hear her. She turned the flashlight to a lower setting, and it stopped flickering.

Each of the three children opened their doors, stepping carefully into their designated rooms.
The doors slammed shut behind them, and the locks clicked, trapping them inside.
The lights flickered on, and a different scene appeared in each room, tailored to each child's worst fears.
