桀有個大臣叫趙梁。趙梁說：「大王，聽說商侯（湯）見到獵人張開大網捕捉鳥獸，覺得這樣太殘忍，竟然請那獵人將各面的網都收回，只張開一面的網，等待獵物自願地進來。」他一邊抿着嘴笑，一邊說：「．．．．．．只用一面的網，捕捉那些自願入網羅的鳥獸！」
桀說：「哼！這樣怎能有豐富的收穫！」
趙梁說：「聽說當時在旁的人都稱讚商侯仁慈，連飛禽走獸都愛及。」
桀笑道：「哼，婦人之仁，不會成為我的威脅。」心裏卻想道：寧枉勿縱，該找個機會除掉湯！
