“Okay, okay,” James quietly murmured. “So what you’re telling me is: you know the password to the Slytherin common room and are willing to hand it over, which room Snape’s bed is, and specifically which bed is his?”
Raegan nodded. For once, they felt like they were fitting in somewhere by harmlessly giving off a few tips to the notorious Marauders. James jumped up with joy. “Alright, starting today, you’re on our team– you’ll be our double agent. With a guy like you, we can find out ANYTHING about those Slithery Slytherins!” He composed himself. “You– Well…” He realized Raegan was also a Slytherin. “You… were going to be in Ravenclaw, right?” He gave them a playful punch on the shoulder. “The Raven that flew too high, aye? Er… yeah, you definitely don’t care… The mascot’s an Eagle, right… Anyway–”
“Yeah, I don’t,” Raegan repeated for good measure. They actually did. They cared a heck ton. If only they didn’t get sorted into Slytherin… the bad house… the one everyone hates–
“Hey, don’t sweat it. You’re a good Slytherin,” James assured them. “You know, I met you on the train and I just thought you had a bunch of cool ideas. Some of my pranks were actually inspired by yours…” He continued with his bashful speech.
“I didn’t see a Slytherin or a Ravenclaw. I saw you. Creative and ambitious. Kind and badass…” Knowing James, he wasn’t the type to say anything like that. But it was a long year. Maybe he changed.
“Of course, the badass thing was meant to be like a Gryffindor part of you,” he added. Never mind. “Well, you’re a Marauder now. A high honor. We trust you.”
“You trust me,” Raegan clarified. “Sirius doesn’t. Remus and Peter… well–”
“I’ll talk to them,” James assured. “Remus definitely likes you though. Notice how you’re his favourite study buddy? In the meantime, come up with your own nickname… Or else Sirius might make one for you. Trust me, you won’t like it.”
Raegan chuckled. “Yeah, sure… thanks for the tip…”
“Likewise…”

[A/N]: Not gonna lie, I think I encapsulated James' personality quite well with this one. He's one of those guys that aren't trying to be emotionally damaging but are in a sense-- Nevermind.
So, as you can see, we have a "5th Marauder" situation. I've seen way too many fanfics of those. But in contrast, it's not very official or embedded in history. It's not "the highlight".
In short, Raegan's going to be forgotten as if they never even existed in that school.
