"Wake up!" Zack hollered, throwing a Rubix cube at him and missing only by a very small margin. "What is it?" Hezago replied, yawning like there was no tomorrow. He stood up and put on his slippers. "I swear. One of these days it'll be me throwing something at you instead" he said under his breath. "Well, that's not going to happen. Anyway, knowing you, I doubt you remembered today was, ahem, family day. " Zack replied, putting on his shoes. "Family day this, family day that. I don't care, honestly. " Hezago replied. He was acting very salty indeed. Anyway, continuing on.
Hezago got off his bed and took a look at himself in the mirror. He had soft but scattered red hair with streaks of pink here and there, and eyes that were for some reason silver. He cleaned himself up and decided that he would at least wear something nice for today. He wore a deep red turtleneck sweater and some jeans to keep himself looking nice. And to finish it off, a pair of black shoes to match.
Wanting to get all this over with, hezago headed downstairs. Tired as anything, he grabbed himself some breakfast and sat by Zack. "Who do you think is gonna leave this time?" Zack asked, mixing his bowl of soup slowly. "Well, if it's gonna be anybody, it's not gonna be me" Hezago replied. Already having inhaled his soup, he put the bowl away and resumed his conversation. "Well. you kinda have a point there, to be honest." Zack replied, apparently reasoning with himself. "Yeah..." Hezago murmured, a memory coming back to him.
You see, hezago had never had a family of his own, and when it nearly happened, which was about twice or so, something terrible would always happen to the family, and they would always change their mind. Hezago at this point never expected anyone to hand him an adoption offer, and doubted it would ever happen again, but unbeknownst to him, something different might just happen. Anyway, continuing on.
Madame Delatin, Was the head of what was known as Sir worths orphanage for the alone. A name that would always annoy anyone who lived there. The orphanage itself was three floors high, a midrise, and was the oldest one of its kind. So old in fact, that it had been there since the days of the French. Ze orphanage was founded in 1563 by Worth Dallatine, a person who was known for founding the most obscure of things. The orphanage, after his death, was handed down his family line, but not without hitting some problems. You see, His descendants would constantly bicker over who owned the institution for centuries, with the splitting of the orphanage finally happening in 1846. The Mexican-American war. Those who ran the orphanage would be forced to choose between either the Mexicans or the American commonwealth, as Texas, for some reason, decided to split off from the Mexicans. And so, the orphanage split. This was a very heavy shock to most people who were employed at the foundation, and many more, as the institution had been around for basically forever. Although the institution would reunify soon after, it would once again be stuck between a rock and a hard place.
The American Civil War would see the institution once again split. This was, yet again another shock, but it was quite expected, as some members of the dallatine part of the lineage had planned to sell the institution to a corporate entity. It would once again be reunified, but this time under Worth's rule, as the dallatine's scheme was soon found out by the public.
But soon after it would split again, but not due to a war, but to some random political bickering. You see, many of both families supported the unification of the cities that the institution sat in, but there was enough of a minority to oppose the majority, and so as of 2034, the institution once again split. Then, as if all of it never happened, the two sides of the family decided that, since the cities united anyway, it would be fine if they came back together. And so, as of 2045 and after, the orphanage was finally, hopefully, Maybe? Reunited. Anyway, enough of that history lesson.
Madame Delatin came walking down the stairs, and all went silent. "Hello, children '' She said, in a sweet voice that could have lulled you to sleep if you hadn't had to deal with her for most of your life. "Today, as you all know, is what we like to call family day. Hopefully, you have gotten yourself prepared, as today may be the day that you may finally get a family of your own," she said. She then began calling out the names of those who were called up to a doorway and then told to see their options.
Hezago, as mentioned earlier, did not expect to be called into the room which quite frankly had him envy those who went into the room and came out with a huge smile on their faces, but he would soon be wronged. At some point. At this point, hezago had fallen asleep since the place was practically one of the most boring places in the world and had already started dreaming when he felt someone touch his shoulder. The first time, he ignored it. The second time, he also ignored it. But the third time, he sat straight up and looked around to find everyone looking at him. He wanted to dig a hole, climb in, and die of embarrassment, but quite frankly, there was nothing he could do. He turned to find Madame Delatin standing there looking at him with a frown so strong, you could have mistaken her for a toad.
Anyway, continuing, Madame Delatin had plastered a fake smile across her face once she had begun leading him across the room into the meeting area, in which she rather gently pushed him into the room and closed the door behind him. This was all very confusing for hezago, who had expected none of this. He supposed that he was essentially destined to stay in that orphanage for the rest of his life. He looked ahead to find an executive-looking lady with bushy black hair sitting at the table that lay ahead of him. He slowly walked up to her and took a seat across the table. They looked at each other for about half a minute until the lady broke the silence.
"Your name please?" she asked and Hezago stood silent for a full second until he decided he might as well reply. "Hezago Borealis," He said, but all he got was a moment of silence in return. "Full name, thank you" she replied, giving hezago a reason to speak once more. "Hezago Nariavinthos Eragonia Borealis" He replied.
"Beautiful name," She said in return. Hezago smiled nervously.
Then out of nowhere, a chariot whooshed into a stop right next to the window, and the person who was driving it began to knock. The lady then stood up and went to open the window and hollered "I'll be at the capitol in a minute, I've got other things to do!" and then she slammed it shut just as the carriage disappeared.
"What was that about?" hezago asked. "None of your business. Anyway, continuing," She replied. "I am not here to offer you an adoption opportunity, but I am here to let you know of the new educational opportunity I am giving you" She continued, "As an ambassador for Vonellia Academy of the Arts, I request that you attend our school and heighten your knowledge to the farthest reaches of existence." Hezago sat there. "The academy of the what now?" he asked. "The Vonellia academy of the arts. We are requesting you attend our school" she repeated. "Y-Yes? I guess?" he replied. "Very well. After this, I request that you go begin packing, as tomorrow will be the day that you attend for the very first time. Goodbye" And with that she beckoned him outside of the room where he once again took a seat. Hezago was very confused when was there ever a Vonellia academy? He'd never heard of it before. And when we're flying carriages a thing? No. They weren't. Maybe this was all a dream and he would wake up a minute or later to be told that it never happened.
"Hey, hezago!" Zack exclaimed. It seems that he had also seen the lady. Hezago knew this mostly because Zack had just told him. "So you met her too?" Hezago asked, realizing this. " Yeah, I also got the message, although I'm still confused about what on earth vonellia is,'' Zack replied. Both of them agreed on this. Who was that woman, and what on earth was vonellia?
But before any of them could speak, an announcement came up on the speakers. "I would like These students to be in my office by tomorrow morning," Madame Delatin announced. "Hezago Borealis, Zackariah Sourleigh, Agatha Rudo, Veronica Hazales, and Evan Bowlren, please report to my office tomorrow morning, thank you," she said, and with that, she turned around and left. 98Please respect copyright.PENANAwO6AlSSFM4
