I had just been killed, but for some reason I heard something unfamiliar, a weird noise that almost sounded like a bird's tweet and it kept going off in a strange rhythm . My eyes opened to reveal a white ceiling and an unfamiliar scent hit my nose, like the scent after it rains with some other scents that were unpleasant. This was no the home I knew in Marish and this certainly wasn't my body, because I wasn't a boy before.
"Connie?" a child's voice asked, I turned my head towards the direction of the person who had just spoken. It was a pubecent boy with dark eyes and dark shaggy hair, features I had never seen before. "It's me, Peter Nekotama. I'm sorry that you were hospitalized because of me. Don't tell your mother that I was here." I didn't know what happened, but it seemed like he was remorseful for whatever happened, so I decided to agree not to tell.
"I won't tell her," I said, my voice cracking as if I hadn't spoken in a while. Peter Nekotama nodded and left, the scent after it rains going with him leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I sat up slowly as to make sure that I wouldn't get dizzy. A man wearing a white coat came into the room. He had brown and gray hair, and green eyes.
"I heard that you were awake, Constantine," the man in the white coat said, "My name is Dr. Arthur Carlisle and I'm the doctor that has been watching over you since you arrived at this hospital two months ago. Can you tell me your name, date of birth, and today's date?"
"I don't know," I said. Dr. Carlisle frowned and wrote something down.
"What is the last thing you remember before you woke up here in the hospital?" Dr. Carlisle asked.
"I don't remember," I lied, knowing that it wouldn't be good for me to be found out to be a reincarnated person.
"It's worse than i thought," Dr. Carlisle muttered.
"So, why am I here?" I asked.
"You were taken here by ambulance after getting hit by a truck," Dr. Carlisle said, "It seems as though you had just had your heat because there was fresh bite wounds from being marked. You were in a coma for two months and we almost lost you, but somehow, you've been recovering so quickly, to the point that it doesn't make any sense whatsoever. The only thing I could think of is if you were marked by your fated partner and they've been healing you with their saliva." I didn't understand what he said at all, but I didn't know how to ask about it.
"I don't understand what you're saying," I said.249Please respect copyright.PENANAucGUDXtvy5
"Oh, you didn't know that you were an Omega?" Dr. Carlisle asked.
"I don't know what an omega is," I said.
"An Omega is a classification where both male and female can give birth due to having a heat," Dr. Carlisle said, "Which is when their pheromones are the strongest and there is a higher rate of getting pregnant due to high sexual urges. They tend to have fated partners who are Alphas, the classification in which both male and female can get someone pregnant and can form a bond with an Omega by marking, which is essentially biting the back of the neck where the scent glands of an Omega are. Alphas also have pheromones and can go into a rut, usually triggered by an Omega's heat. There are also what are known as Betas, where the male can only get someone pregnant and the female can only give birth."
"Dr. Carlisle, are you giving a lecture again?" a woman's voice asked, causing me to notice her. She was a petite woman with long dark hair and her eyes looked like they had gold flecks in the rich brown. "You must be Constantine Blaine. I'm nurse Olivia, I'll be your nurse for the day."
"He was telling me about something I wasn't sure about," I said, "He still didn't explain 'fated pairs' yet."
"Why do you want to know about that, dear?" Nurse Olivia asked.
"Because he said something about it and giving saliva," I said. She gave the doctor a look.249Please respect copyright.PENANACphMRMGg0L
"I only mentioned it because he was healing suspiciously quickly for someone who was on his death bed," Dr. Carlisle said.
"That is true," Nurse Olivia said, "When you came in, you had several broken bones as well as some brain trauma. We almost declared you braindead, but now look at you, you're sitting up and talking with us. It has to be the luck of a fated pair. I'm a Beta myself, so I don't know too much about it, but I heard that fated pairs can heal each others' wounds using bodily fluids. Do you think that the boy who was just in here was your fated pair?"249Please respect copyright.PENANA3656MD9sau
"I don't know," I said, "I can't even remember who I am, so how am I supposed to remember that?"
"Sorry, I didn't realize that you had amnesia," Nurse Olivia said.
"Well, at least it's better than being dead," I muttered.
