When the world revolved around yet stagnant I stood

Or more so sat,

In a dumpster where my sister had locked me

My sister, barren of the great knowledge of common sense

Had come to the conclusion to cure me of my fears

Starting with darkness.

And the overwhelming stench of rot

Had begun to fester beneath my feet

No matter how much I hollered or banged

I could not break metal with my fists

Through my snot and tears and the rankness of my situation

The darkness never left

It surrounded me, encased me, gripped me tight and I could not breathe

Sunlight came along with giggles and button noses pinched tight

Oh how I stank, my senses blind to the smell I had waited in so long

Were my fears cured? They asked, had my sister really done it? Have I been cured of my ailments?

Alas I was the same

Who I was and who I had always been

Afraid of the dark, and now afraid of the dumpster.
