My powers are quite normal - in fact, one would be considered quite lucky to have these elements. Oxygen can heal people, gold illuminates, and helium can make me levitate people and objects.
I've never used my powers, and I'm quite sure that nobody else who wrote this same essay today has either. Why would they? It's been banned, and if your parents are law-abiding citizens, they stopped using theirs as well.
My mom produces scores for movies. I'm pretty sure she never uses her cadmium there. My dad was a scientist. He researches elements every day. He never encouraged me and my sister to really use our powers. He knows very well that this is dangerous territory.
But if I could use the elements, I think it would be interesting. I could have probably healed my dad using the oxygen. Gold is just practical here - light up dark spaces. Helium would be quite beneficial to my lazy ass. I don't need to tell 'Mom, can you pass the chips' while bingewatching TV. I could just do it myself.
I can give myself a height advantage using it as well. But I think I would rather keep a low profile. They say you inherit your powers from your family members before you, so I wonder how my parents' powers were.
My mom never really talks about powers. And my dad... well, I wish I could still talk to him. He wields lead, giving him a toxic touch which he can activate and deactivate at will. I wonder if he ever did it as a child.
Personally, I don't think legalizing elements is a great idea. The city made it illegal for a reason. They're dangerous, potent, and there's a lot about the powers which we haven't discovered. So until we fully grasp the potential, I think we should leave it aside.

Bringing back powers would be an amazing move by the government. I have always loved everything about science, and look up to the great scientists of the past.
My powers are arsenic, hydrogen and carbon. Quite a combination, I agree. Arsenic is dangerous, but the danger only makes it more alluring.
Sometimes I just feel like toxic-touching myself with it. About a week back, I went through a crush confession, a rejection, and now I've been friendzoned.
But she's not worth it, if I say so myself. Visiting the lab is a dream come true - I can't lose that. I don't care if my crush's father used to work here, or even if a 100% genetically identical, older version of her is running the lab.
I don't care if the memories flood my brain every night. I don't care if everything around me reminds me of her.
In hindsight, I would use my hydrogen and burn this paper right now if it was legal to. I can't have Aura seeing all this! I can set things around me on fire.
My carbon combined with the hydrogen could set the whole room on fire. My powers may be violent, but they're really cool.
If I had the chance to use them legally, I definitely will not pass it up.
