As the church bells in Shanton Hills rang loudly, Crystal finally woke up. She yawned and groggily looked at the clock before going into full panic that she was almost late.
“Oh no! I am NOT mopping the corridors again for being late!” Crystal muttered “I should wake Star up now.” She quickly threw on her school uniform which included a white gown and white pearls and laces and other frilly nonsense.
It all started 10 centuries ago since the epic war between the 2 kingdoms. The reason behind the war is still unknown. Some say it was due to moral differences between the Celestara kingdom and the Umbryth kingdom. But now, their kingdom can no longer afford to train everyone in magic as the magical resources are prioritized for males who have higher magical capability than women to make the army.
As Crystal finished packing her bag, she dashed to her sister Star’s room and knocked on the door vigorously.
“Star! Open up! We’re nearly late and I really don’t want to mop the corridors again!” Crystal yelled through the door and Star finally opened up, meal receipt in one paw, her bag slung over one shoulder. Her uniform is messy and looked like she put it on in a hurry. They then ran down the stairs and grabbed their breakfast off the table, along with the two vials of youth on the table. They downed the contents of the vial and ran to the front door. Star fumbled with her high heels. Crystal meowed at her angrily
“For god’s sake, put on those busted high heels and go? What are you waiting for? For Lord Amen to teleport you to school with his death power?” Crystal said sarcastically, as Star took her advice and Crystal sprinted towards the nearest bus stop. Star followed tightly, hobbling as her shoes weren’t properly worn.
“Happy birthday,Star.” Crystal said after she caught the bus with Star, and wished Star some blessings. Star smiled and said “You too, sister, you are the best sister I can have in this world.” Star then made a cute meow after that and Crystal chuckled. The day was supposed to be good if they are allowed to train magic.
But that is impossible for now.
Not long after getting off the bus, they were handed a flyer by a royal messager. Strangely, that poster didn’t have a face. She is the top fugitive of Catlantis. Luna Citrine Amethyst. Wanted for destruction of the first royal bloodline, killing a demigod family and multiple other murders. Light, dark, water and ice abilities. Wow, how much magic would she even need to pull that off? And another flyer from the same messager about Amaru Amber Firefall. Fire, water, ice, mesmer and wind. And one called Calna Eve Tealbright. Abilities are future telling, light, water. Wanted for mass murder, trespassing. Why would they do that? Crystal thought as she and Star walked to their school of healers quickly.
“Hi, Ms Bluebell, we are not late today!” Crystal said the instant she entered her form class. The school bells rang right after she said that. Ms Bluebell narrowed her eyes and signaled for Crystal to take a seat. “Tomorrow, princess Ruby will come to our school to pick new healers for the palace. We expect everyone to show respect to the princess and put on your best behavior” Ms Bluebell then proceeded to ramble about basic respect and ethics when a princess visits, her tone dripping with same sarcastic boredom. Crystal looked down immediately. She hated it when a royal from any kingdom visits their school. The last time a royal visit, it’s a princess from the Nivear, the famous kingdom of the elite ice ability cats. They live in the polar regions and that princess nearly froze the cafeteria into an icy world. And everyone had to eat frozen food because of that incident and no one was allowed to complain even after the princess left.
Crystal’s eyes closed while Ms Bluebell continued talking about rules and regulations when a royal visits. Not again? This is going to be the worst royal visit to the school ever. Everyone is going to crowd to see the princess and some will ask her the motive for the 10 centuries war. The council said it’s due to moral differences but the Celestara kingdom and the Umbryth kingdom had stopped comparing morals 15 centuries ago. So… what is the real reason?
Today they finally have history class on Catlantis history. The school rarely does that as the students main objective is healing and Star can barely sit still in lunch break about that. She is in another form class and she is talking about the upcoming history class happily, and is now buying a new notebook to take notes in the history lesson. The mentors from the council to teach history here, have arrived and Star immediately went to talk with them. Crystal then closed her eyes and laughed silently at how excited Star was. Lunch break soon ended and the history class began. Many cats were chattering in joy and happiness while they walked back to class.
The mentor walked up and took a look at the class. She then started writing things on the board and explaining.
“First, here are some faces you must learn not to help. This is the top fugitive,Luna Citrine Amethyst.” The mentor said as she showed a wanted scroll of Luna and the timeline on the board showing the year and crimes she committed. “Luna committed mass murder, clearance of the royal family and the destruction of the Amethyst family. History says Luna wanted her family’s attention as their attention was fixed on their second kid Lunar and are always arguing. So Luna, who did not get the attention and argued every night with her family and then killed them. This is not all the information but this is what we know. But I know about the royal destruction incident. I saw her floating mid air there with a blood stained icicle and fighting some cats. “Luna committed mass murder and the motive was unclear. But no motive can validate mass murder. And now, to Amaru Amber Firefall. She committed mass murder, mass arson and destructed the royal family with Luna. Those twisted creatures like them do not deserve our time and respect. We should not be looking at their good sides if their crimes outweight their lives. And Luna always uses this cork in her potions. If you see the cork. She is most likely Luna, and report to the council the instant you see the cork.” The mentor continued, holding a white cork with silver swirls around it. The energy is the cork felt strong and pressurizing. That Luna must have a lot of magic, Crystal thought as the mentor finally put the cork back into her bag and continued pointing out other faces. Like Calna Eve Tealbright. She also took out the pictures of their faces and said Luna destroyed the all her records so they now do not anything about her. Wow, she is definitely an evil person. Who do all those to their own family and world for no reason? Crystal thought.
They then started saying how they train for crimes in their home and finished the warning with fugitives and started moving on to talk about the 5 ancestors. They were Lumos the guardian of light and dark, Amen the death ancestor, Lucy the guardian of hell, Dutchess the creator of life and Rose the guardian of heaven. Lumos, Lucy and Rose are currently missing, for 100 centuries already. And Crystal remembered the fact the magical abilities testing camp will be near. It’s when cats gets their own elemental abilities and Crystal is curious about hers. Hopefully she does not get the same abilities as Luna and Amaru. They are the most evil cat she has ever seen and she does not even want the same ability as them. The mentor then talked about the important and unimportant wars in Catlantis history while Crystal scribbled notes.
Time passed quickly and the dismissal bell rang, signaling the end of the history lesson. Crystal then met Star whose notebook is full of history notes. “You are just addicted to history aren’t you?” Crystal said in amusement. Star stuck her tongue out childishly and nodded. “Also, sister, do you know that the ability testing camp is close? That’s where we all know our elemental abilities! I am so excited, I can finally have the power to protect you all from danger!” Crystal hesitated and smiled at Star. She know there are many other fugitives like Luna and Amaru there. “I know I am not strong enough to stop scary and evil cats like Luna, Amaru and Calna, but if they really invade our house, I will try my best to protect my family! Even if I am scared. You know I actually want a strong ability so I can actually protect my family… and keep you safe” Star said, flinching a little from the names of the fugitives, but eyes shining with excitement of her ability that is about to be revealed in a week. When they arrived home, they immediately dashed to their bedrooms and started talking. Star was grumbling at how the cafeteria soup tasted awful and Crystal was silently reading a book on the shelf. Suddenly, a snowy white owl, nearly glowing, landed on the windowsill. A silver ribbon tied to its leg with the letter. It hooted and left after Crystal took the letter. It wrote:” Camp magic, Crystal:Group 8 tent 12 Star:Group 8 tent 12. Report at Angel fountain 3 days later at 12.00pm” Star immediately jumped in joy and saying how she can finally protect all her loved ones. Crystal stayed silent. She felt something was off. And her gut never lie.
