The swimmer, drowning?

Funny how life works.

I was the one drowning.

Drowning in my own expectations.

Drowning in trying to be enough for them.

Drowning in all the distance I made.

Drowning in the loneliness.

Drowning in the ocean I created.

Drowning in everything that I’ve tried to be but couldn’t.

I couldn’t be the one who you would choose.

I couldn’t be the one you would love.

I couldn’t be the one who drowned again.

I won’t.
