Her brush she raised with trembling hand,

To paint a world she always planned.

It caught a glimpse of something true,

The paint was dry, crusty and old,

The reds now dull, the blues grown cold.

Her eyes, filled with silent cries,

Spilled tears to mask her lies.

They never paused or looked behind.

Her love so pure, even

The birds, wept, it was too much to bear.

She dreamed of light beyond the wall,

Yet built it high, brick after fall.

No bars, no chains, just hope, unseen, unwavering faith.

A gentle jail where she now lays.

The key was there, within her palm,

But hope had wrapped her in despair.

She gripped the brush, her final plan..

And held it tight,

as dreamers can.
