He gazed at me with those eyes. My heart beat unnervingly fast. I was willing to be a pawn in my sister’s plan but why? Why did it lead to this?
“Sister do you love us?”
”I don’t hate you.”
”Why are you so mean to us?”
“Why do you have so many questions?”
“Do you have an ability?”
I tugged her hair unnecessarily hard while brushing and she flipped her head to look me directly in my eyes. When did my sister become confident?
” I think you need to cut your hair short like Sunflower’s. You’ll look like each other again and people would stop taking advantage of her ability.”
“Your ability is to talk to animals right?”
Why is she asking annoying questions? Wait, she and Sunny were identical twins and Sunny already had an ability, so even if abilities were rare she should…
”Lavender what’s your ability?”
“If you trust me I’ll tell you.”
”Cut it out, Lavender. You know Daffodil hates talking to us much less trust us. The last time she did something that involved talking nicely was when she taught us how to run and hide when dads drunk.”
Sunny wasn’t wrong. The last time I spoke nicely to them was back then. It was easy to hide, because the house was just a giant trash can and the yard was no better. It was hard to sneak though. Every floor board creaked and all the doors squeaked so we always left a window open to run away. Eventually they got used to sneaking to that window so it was fine, but we haven’t snuck out in a while. Chloe must be worried. We sneak to her place and she helps us. She also tries to convince her dad to help because he is the governor but he would never help me.
”You cut it out Sunflower. I can see big events in peoples lives and their choices. There is a big event coming Daffodil. One choice leads to you living a sad poor life and the other choice will make you filthy rich and happy. If you trust me you’ll be rich and happy.”
I trusted her and became a personal maid for an heir to a famous casino. Anyone with a penny could come to that casino and they practically drained peoples pockets. Including our dads. The heir had come to collect the money our dad owed, but he realized our situation and helped us. Father ended up in prison, mother committed suicide (cause-unknown), and he hired us as maids to pay off the debt. He made sure to give my siblings an education and was really nice. Everyone else was scared of him but he was our savior. He even let me watch movies with him and let me eat with him.
Of course I didn’t realize how close we grew until he invited me and my siblings to a party. At first we were excited because we were so exited but reality came crashing on us when we got to the party.
“Aren’t those three house keepers?”
”Yes, but it’s obvious why they’re here.”
“Huh?”
”They have abilities. Do I have to explain everything to you? The youngest and eldest have special abilities and the middle child has a rare ability. You know one of the requirements to inherit this place is either having an ability or marrying someone with an ability, right?”
“I heard he’s currently showing favor to the eldest, but no one even knows her ability.”
”Then why her?”

Tsk. I knew it was too good to be true. People have used us for our abilities before but these guys were taking it too far with my sisters. There was no chance they’d get away with this. I looked over to see if they were ok but those two had identical smirks on their faces. I should calm down and get out. These two could handle themselves.
I went to the bathroom angry but when I looked at the mirror tears slide down my face.
”Huh? Why? Why would I cry about such a petty thing? I knew he didn’t like me. Get a grip Daphne.”
”Daphne? Who are you talking to Daffodil?”
”What are you doing in the girls bathroom?”
“I heard a rumor then saw your sister’s identical act. I wish we did not cute their hair to look the same.”
”So you followed me to the GIRLS bathroom!?”
”Answer my question first. Who is Daphne?” He had me cornered on the opposite side of the door. There was no escape.
”I am Daphne. Now why did you follow me?”
”I heard some rumors and came to correct them.”
His face was to close. His eyes looked at my lips. My heart was about to give up on me and my legs already did.
I had originally written something pretty long for this and realized it could be shorter so I summarized it. Since the topic was romance I wanted to add how the sister’s romantic lives evolved during the story. I only added the beginning of what I originally wrote so it left out a lot of stuff.
Daphne(Daffodil) - This covered the beginning. She proved her worth and saved other people with ability bans like her. The heir(I don’t have a name for him) was with her and they had a healthy relationship, but at some point thought they were related. It was proven false later on.
Sarah(Sunflower) - Had a terrible father, was raped twice as a child, and abused for her ability. She lost the very little faith she had in man and trusted only a few close woman. She becomes friends with a girl her age who had similar experiences, but still managed to trust people. After time Sunny started trusting people and they started dating.
Liera(Lavender) - Waited for her big event. Sadly her over trustworthy nature made her think the right one was someone else. Daphne trusted her so much she didn’t stop the relationship until a guy confessed he liked Liera and the guy she was dating was a player who had been with him when they met. This got sorted out in the end and Liera learned how to be cautious of people.
This is an explanation to bans. Some people in this world have magical abilities and some are powerful to the point the government gets scared and bans the ability. Since abilities are usually mentally attached to you most people with a ban secretly use their ability. When the government finds out they do a force ban (take away your ability) which drives people insane to death. In the end this was the reason their mother committed suicide. Sarah got her ability when she was six. Sadly the ability was emotionally attached and anytime she got scared or mad wild predators would start rampaging and kill things. Other ability users covered for her saying she was just a child, so she didn’t get a forced ban, but her family suffered financially. Leading to their peaceful life being shattered.
