Pretty little prose,

Oft’ from distant groves

Beneath swaying trees.

No one asks for life,

To be born with wealth,

But,

We all must deal

The hand we’re dealt.

Your pockets are hungry, 

But our bellies rumble 

For something yummy.

Spasms of anger

Flex through the poor

For every penny paid

For rich folks.

We rattle our can 

For someone to save us.

Freedom is bought 

With buckets of blood, 

Not sought 

With the point of a pen.

The tree which leans heavily

Over one’s home

Is best despatched 

Before a great storm.

Thunder may scare my loves innocence

But so will the great crack of the tree outside.

It’s best, I guess, 

To fell before the storm arrives.

As I hack at the thick of its base;

It will still fill my eyes with tears
