Winter still clung stubbornly to Hogwarts at the end of February.

Snow layered the castle grounds in silver-white drifts while icy wind curled around the towers and battlements like wandering ghosts. The Black Lake shimmered beneath pale morning light, partially frozen along the shoreline, and the windows of the Great Hall glowed gold against the cold.

Inside the castle, however, warmth had returned.

Not merely from fireplaces.

From people.

The atmosphere of Hogwarts had changed slowly over the past weeks in ways difficult to describe directly.

Pip chirped sleepily from beside the letters while Briony curled closer against Mira’s arm.

through enchanted windows framed with winter light—

snow continued falling softly over Hogwarts Castle.
