CHAPTER 2 – THE WOMAN IN THE MIRROR

The rain outside grew louder as midnight covered Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in darkness.

Aaliya could not sleep.

Something felt wrong inside Room 541.

The air was strangely cold.

Her parents were asleep, but Aaliya kept hearing sounds from the corridor.

Step… step… step…

Slow footsteps.

Wet footsteps.

At first she thought it was another guest.

But then the footsteps stopped directly outside their door.

Silence filled the room.

Aaliya slowly looked toward the bottom of the door.

And froze.

Water was leaking beneath it.

Not normal water.

Dark black water.

Her breathing became uneven.

She walked carefully toward the door while her hands trembled.

The footsteps began again.

Step… step… step…

Except this time—

They were inside the room.

Aaliya turned around instantly.

Nothing.

The room was empty.

But the bathroom light suddenly switched on by itself.

The mirror inside reflected a faint shadow standing behind her.

A tall woman.

Long wet hair.

White dress.

Head tilted unnaturally.

Aaliya spun around screaming—

Nobody was there.

The bathroom door slammed shut.

BANG.

The entire room shook violently.

Her parents woke up immediately.

“What happened?!” her mother shouted.

Aaliya pointed toward the bathroom, unable to speak.

Her father opened the door carefully.

The bathroom was empty.

But written across the mirror in dripping water were three words:

“SHE TOOK MY ROOM.”

The lights flickered.

Once.

Twice.

Then all power disappeared.

Darkness swallowed the room completely.

Aaliya heard breathing near her ear.

Cold.

Slow.

Not human.

Then—

A woman whispered softly:

“Five… four… four…”

Aaliya’s father switched on his phone flashlight.

The beam moved across the darkness slowly.

The beds.

The curtains.

The mirror.

Then the light stopped.

Aaliya’s blood turned cold.

At the far corner of the room—

A woman was standing against the wall.

Completely still.

Her face hidden beneath dripping hair.

Her feet twisted backward.

And her eyes—

Glowing pale white in the darkness.

The flashlight suddenly died.

The woman smiled.

Then rushed toward them at impossible speed.

Aaliya screamed—

And the hotel lights instantly returned.

The corner was empty again.

Nothing was there.

Only silence.

But near the bathroom mirror…

Wet footprints slowly appeared one by one.

Leading out of Room 541.

Toward the forbidden corridor of—
