Soft rays of sunlight streamed through the window of the farm house.
Leveret lay in a groggy heap on the bed, burning his face in a pillow as the crowing of a rooster interrupted his sleep.
“Mmm… I hate it here… so much.”
He whined, grabbing his crown off of the side table and pulling the blanket over his head.
There was a sudden clang from down the hallway followed by heavy, quick footsteps.
“Will, I’m pretty sure you’re slightly more responsible than your siblings so you’re gon’ watch breakfast ‘till I get back in ‘ere!”50Please respect copyright.PENANAD2Azgchsyz
“Ya can trust me, Ma!”50Please respect copyright.PENANAbU98RMt8MH
“Dear Mogshade, I hope so.”
With that, the door swung open, hitting the wall with a thunk.
“Mornin’, sugar…!”
Called a mildly exhausted voice from the doorway.
Leveret poked his head out of the blanket, his crown falling down his face as he glanced up at the figure in front of him.
She was rather short, though taller than he was, and she was still holding a pan in her hand, her dark hair was tied back from her face.
Leveret recognised her as the woman who called Marty in yesterday.
“Greetings, Madam.”
He peeped, sitting up and adjusting his crown.
She snorted, gesturing with the pan.
“Oh, no need for formality ‘ere! I’m Lora. You must be Lev?”
Leveret blinked.
“Yes, I am.”
He chirped, his voice cracking in a way that made his statement sound like a question.
He cleared his throat.
“M-My apologies for not introducing myself sooner-”50Please respect copyright.PENANAbf5QZ0SH52
He stammered, drumming his fingers on the mattress.
Lora laughed again.
“No need to be so shy, honey! Don’ you worry everyone already knows who you are.”
She grinned in an attempt to be reassuring.
Leveret’s eyes widened
“O-Oh my… that is just… so… lovely…!”
He croaked with a squeaky chuckle.
Lora shrugged.
“I guess so. Anyway, breakfast?”
She inquired, walking out of the door.
“Oh no, I really should not.”50Please respect copyright.PENANAyZcSFocPa5
“Why not?”
“I am merely… not hungry.”50Please respect copyright.PENANAtfHjkj67gk
Leveret lied, his voice a bit rougher than he would like.
Lora shrugged.
“If ya say so, sugar.”
She hummed, turning towards the door.
“Thank you anyway, Miss Lora.”
He mumbled, swinging his legs over the side of the bed.
“Oh, ain’t you cute!”
Lora cooed, turning around and patting his cheek.
“I-I… thank you?”
He chirped.
“Anywho, I’ll leave ya to… whatever ya were doin’, honey.”
Lora said, turning on her heel and hurrying out of the room.
“Will!?”
She called down the hall.
“There’s no fire, Ma!”
Will piped up cheerfully.
“Thank you, Mogshade…”
Lora sighed.50Please respect copyright.PENANA7X2CwJYYJS
“HEY! I did most of the work!”
Will retorted, gesturing at the pan.50Please respect copyright.PENANA5Xk8iF9UZN
