Star Wars: Ashes of The Way - To the Outer Rim! | Author&amp;#039;s Note

I’m so sorry, Din Djarin, but like any male protagonist I write about, fanfic or not, it’s your turn in Viktoria Fyodorova’s torture chamber. Oh, no.

Welcome, everyone, to Star Wars: Ashes of The Way, a new Star Wars fanfic inspired by The Mandalorian and Grogu, as well as a personal experience—when I thought I would lose my father after he fell ill earlier in 2026. I know exactly what Grogu is going through in this story.

I’m not a huge Star Wars critic. Sure, there are some movies I like more than others, but I could never hate a Star Wars movie. One thing I did notice in the new Mandalorian movie is that while Grogu got some character development, Mando didn’t, so I decided on this approach for the story. But Mando and Grogu’s relationship is still the heart of it, just like in the movie and series.

I write character-driven fiction, fanfic or not, and darker twists on franchises. This is going to be a relatively dark Star Wars story, but it will still carry the heart of the franchise: teamwork, friendship, family, and found family, along with a moral lesson and a tragic villain. The main cast, Mando, Grogu, Luke, and Rotta the Hutt, aren’t going to change quickly, so patience is your best friend with them. Mando and Grogu are dealing with trauma in this story. That’s not something that disappears—we learn to live with it.

That said, the plot I came up with (inspired by two sci-fi prompts I found in a prompt book) is something I’ve never tried before, so it will be fun to see how it plays out in terms of both the internal and external conflicts.

I can’t wait to bring you guys along on this exciting adventure in the Outer Rim, and I hope that you enjoy it, even under all the angst.
