Nova Scotia is talking to Canada on the phone in Halifax.
NS: Well, thanks for calling Canada, but I’ll be fine.
Canada: Are you sure?
NS: *Chuckles* Yeah, bud. It’s been a hundred years, now. Everything’s fine.
Canada: Uh, okay. Well, I’m available anytime for a chat, okay?
NS: Yeah, okay. See ya.
Canada: Bye.
He is walking through Halifax, back to his apartment. He stops at a crosswalk and sees a blind woman walk past him.

NS: (Surprised) Woah, careful!

NS: Sorry, Ma’am, but it’s not safe to cross, yet.
Woman: (Nervous and flustered) Oh, excuse me, I’m still getting used to this.
NS: (Cheerful) No problem. We can cross now.
Nova Scotia helps the blind woman cross the street.
Woman: (Grateful) Thank you. It's so much harder after Stan passed away.
NS: (Sympathetic) I’m sorry to hear that. How about I help you cross over to your destination, Ma’am?
Woman: Oh, I would appreciate that. I’m going to the Cornwallis Church.
NS: But of course. Going to pray?
Woman: Yes, but also to see Stan.
NS: When was he buried?
Woman: (Sad) Two days ago. He succumbed to his injuries from the explosion.
NS: (Confused) Explosion?
Woman: The one that happened just this month, on December the 6th.
Nova Scotia pauses in shock, her words sinking in.
NS: Uh, r-right. The explosion. That’s when you lost your sight, right?
The light turns from red to white, and the two walk across.
Woman: *sighs* Yes. I heard a commotion and went to the window to see what was happening outside. There was this huge mushroom cloud and then the window suddenly shattered and I couldn’t see anything.
NS: *gulps* That... sounds terrible.
Woman: (Sad voice cracking) It was, but Stan was there. He stayed with me in that cold tent and helped me get used to walking with a cane to church and back. I’m sorry... *she takes out a cloth and wipes her face.*
NS: (Comforting) It’s okay. Thousands of folks died and thousands more got injured.
Woman: *Sniffles* Yes... Yes.
The two stop at a crosswalk, the church in sight. They stand in silence.
NS: (Quietly) My hands... they got injured badly in the explosion.
The light turns white and they walk across.
NS: I was outside, away from the pier, so I wasn’t injured in the blast. But when I heard the commotion, I ran over and started helping survivors. I didn’t care if I was touching hot iron or broken glass. Then I got buried in a collapsing building. I dug myself out, but... My hands were completely numb. They stayed that way for... *glances over to her* awhile.
Woman: *smiles* Well, they seemed to have gotten better.
NS: *laughs* yeah.
They stop at the church entrance.
NS: Here we are, Ma’am. Your final destination.
Woman: (Happy) Thank you so much for accompanying me... And listening, too. I haven’t really talked about this with anyone else. I never wanted to be a bother, what with the war.
NS: You weren’t. It was nice to talk with someone, too.
Woman: You’re welcome.
NS: Uh, Ma’am?
Woman: ... Yes?
NS: (Serious, a declaration) It won’t happen again. I’ll make sure of it.
Woman: *Smiles* Thank you... and Goodbye.
She enters the church yard and fades away as she crosses the walk way. Nova Scotia turns and hurries home. When he gets there, he takes off his boots and gloves. He picks up his fiddle and begins to play.
After the credits, he ends the song to call Canada.
NS: *sniffing* Hey, Canada.
Okay, I didn't read the dialogue because there was no setting or any background info regarding the characters, time, place, context, etc. I think with that it'd be a lot more interesting to read. :)
