"Ms..? I'm new here and I'm supposed to be in this class....uh-" I could already feel my face turning red with embarrassment.
"Oh! Well I'm Mrs. Harry and I'm you're new teacher. Welcome, you can sit here-" she pointed to the table closest to me with a girls and one boy seated.
"Alright...."
"So you can just go unstack one of the chairs from the back and have a seat."
"Okay- thank you."
I walked away from Mrs. Harry stood in the middle of a crowd of 5th graders at the back of the classroom rushing to get chairs and go to their seats. When i finally got to the stack someone reached out their hand to me.
"Hi, I'm Alan and welcome to the school! I noticed you're new here, would you like help unstacking a chair?"
"Uh- Hi. I'm Anjolina and yes, I'm new here...I think I could get a chair myself thank you.." I turned away from this Alan kid trying to not be rude but already starting to feel awkward and hating the feeling of my heart in my stomach.
"Okay- that's fine. If you need anything just ask." He gave me a friendly smile and I returned a smaller version of that smile, biting my inner cheek while doing so.
I quickly unstacked a chair and made my way back through the crowd of kids all the way to the front of the class and put my chair down. I slid into it and sat down at the desk and took a deep breath before turning to the front of the class.

Mrs. Harry stood in the front of the class and gave out directions. We were going to be taking benchmarks, I, had gotten there on the first day they were starting. Terrific. About 5 minutes later we all had "privacy folders" and we began the first test of the week.
I was doing my work and when I was done, I took out a piece of paper and started drawing. Not long after someone disrupted my silence and whispered,
"Pssst. New girl."
That was me. The "new girl". I couldn't really be angry at her for not knowing my name as it was barely my first day but with everyone calling you "the new girl", it seemed to get annoying really fast.
"Hm?" I hummed shifting in my seat to see the girl a bit better.
"I'm Ailish. What's your name?"
"Anjolina..." I trailed off bringing my hand up to my face in order to cover my face. It was a habit and I don't know why I do it.
"Oh- cool. That's a pretty name. Want to be friends?"
I looked at her for a few seconds longer than intended and really got to look at her features. She was really small, not to mention flat, and she had unruly hair that was messily tied into a ponytail and her skirt seemed too short even from her sitting position. Her hair was a really light brown colour.
My eyes flickered back up to her face when I remembered staring was rude, and I responded with a,
"Uhm- uh- sure...?"
"Great. I should warn you about a few people here though."
I simply shrugged. I didn't really want to listen and I would rather get back to my drawing, but hey- I was new and didn't want to be mean.
"Okay- whatever you do, stay away from Shylize."
"I'm sorry, who?"
"Oh- right, you're new. That girl right there."
She subtly pointed to a girl sitting at a table in the back corner...and I'm not lesbian or anything but she was really pretty. She had light brown with a mix of a gold-ish colour that made her hair look even better in the light. Her eyes wandered around the room and she eventually looked up at the ceiling seemingly thinking of another answer to a test. Her eyes were a shade of brown, closer to amber. She was overall really pretty and from what I could see already, she also seemed friendly.
I'm pretty good at reading people and I have a really good intuition. I couldn't see why I was to "stay away" from this girl who looked nothing but nice.
"Why?" I questioned Ailish, tilting my head to the side in mild confusion.
"Because she likes the guy I like."
I rolled my eyes slightly. Not even day one and I could already tell she was just full of drama. I always happened to get dragged into drama. Somehow, people just like saying things about me or try getting me "involved" in their problems. It gets annoying but i was really trying for no drama this year. New school, new me. Whoops, guess not.
"Who?"
"Aedon. That boy over there."
She pointed to a boy a few tables away from mine and got this really gross dreamy looking face.
He was short, you could tell because of the way his feet didn't touch the floor when he was sitting down. He had honey brown eyes and freckles that spread across his nose. His hair was a dark black kind of colour and cut in a gentleman's haircut. He was wearing the same thing all the boys were wearing, the things they're required to wear.
It was a white button down shirt with the school name on the left side on their chest, a maroon tie, khaki pants, a black belt, and black dress shoes.
"Oh."
"Yeah- you better not like him either. He's already mine."
"Are you guys together?"
"N-no... We will be though, soon."
"If he even considers being with you." I snapped.
This girl was getting kind of annoying so i turned around and continued my drawing.

The rest of the week was really boring but then we had a week after to do literally nothing. I got to know a few people and there was this one girl I would send fake smiles to in the back of the class just to be polite. Her name was Paulina and she sat next to Shylize.
I stopped hanging around Ailish so much and instead became friends with this other girl who sat at my table, Daniela. We didn't have much in common and I was mostly with her for company. Even though I don't mind being alone at all.
During the "free week" a few kids from the class next door would come in... One in particular stood out from the rest.
I soon learned his name was Roman and he wasn't short. He was a few inches shorter than me and I'm not the tallest person ever but I just compared him to my height.
He has the same honey brown coloured eyes as that Aedon kid, he wore glasses and had jet black hair that was styled in the same gentleman cut a lot of the boys seemed to have here. He was quite lanky but he also had freckles all over his face.
I wasn't really allowed to like him so I focused my thoughts on a different boy. Angel.
