So...hallucinations? Ghosts? Squatters? Serial killers? I honestly don't know what to make out of this. It is so terrifying.
Props to your mom for being so brave throughout all the ordeals. I wouldn't be able to watch those women talking without running and hiding, nor would I handle a creepy Robin Hood lookalike in my room.
Also: "I heard it too" DANG that gave me goosebumps
Wow... I won't lie. I was not expecting anyone to comment on this story anymore. This is a rather pleasant surprise. Thank you so much for reading and commenting on this. That was a really awesome thing to get on here and see.
When I wrote this, I had just recently closed a horror writing contest that I hosted, so I was in the mood to write something spooky. I asked my parents if they had any crazy stories from their past, and my mom just threw this in my lap. Of course, I had to write a story about it. It was just too good not to.
My mom denies being brave, but I would agree with you. I would have been hiding under some covers every night if these things had happened to me... even if it was today XD
"I heard it too." Yeah, that was pretty chilling. My mom had written everything off until her mom said that to her. To this day, she says she's still trying to find a way to rationalize it, but she hasn't been able to come up with any solid conclusions.
Thank you again for reading and leaving feedback. It's good to see this story get some more attention, so I'm extremely grateful. :)
@Jay Ellis, Hey, no problem! I like to look for things that people don't read as much. There are great stories on here like The Bridging World by you, and Dear Daisy by Mira, but sometimes it's nice to look at the little thing, which is a motto I live by.
I agree, your mom reacted much better than I would have even at the age I am at now. I couldn't imagine going through such terrifying experiences as a child, let alone a young adult.
That is totally reasonable to try and rationalize it all, I mean, I'm pretty sure that's a trauma reflex, to deny what happened and forget about it entirely. After all, if it didn't happen, it can't hurt you, right?
Once again, no problem! I love your work, and it's good to see you back.
When my mom first told me that, I got chills too. Actually, to add to it, she told me that her mother checked the attic multiple times, but never was able to find the source of the sounds.
Now I'm super paranoid (I always am, but still)...
Your mother's experience somehow reminds me of how I always feel a presence in my basement, like there's someone, uninvited, there, hiding if you want to call it that. And this story I heard about closets and shoes...it still shakes me to my core and it's been years since I heard about it...I'd rather not talk about...
I always keep my closet door closed, no exceptions.
Click, Clack, Click, Clack...I'll just leave that there...
@2ignature Sm1ley-Face, I will allow it for the time being, on the condition that you reading my stuff doesn't cause you any mental harm. The moment I think it is, you're cut off. Deal?
Dude. At first I tried to make sense of this, by having sleep paralysis hallucinations myself I started to believe she might've had schizophrenic-type hallucinations but dang
your mother probably glitched into the world of the otherwordly and accidentally saw what normals humans are not meant to see.
also: HOT DANG. What a brave mother. If I was her I wouldn't leave my room for days. This makes me want to write down my family history. It wouldn't be pretty (ofc) but it would be nice to have it in print
😂 I actually read your comment to my mom, and she laughed. She said it's not so much that she was brave as much as it was her being young and not having much choice because no one believed her. Also, her parents were pretty strict. Doubt they would have let her lock herself up. She also wanted me to clarify for her that this didn't happen every day. Although the events occurred frequently, they were spread out over 3 to 5 years.
@Jay Ellis, i still find her brave. Following a weird ghost woman and going into the room? OH NAW. My parents are strict too (yay religious parents) but i still probably would sleep under the covers every night with my sleeping buddy lol

Yeah...I'm pretty easy to scare...
Noooooooooooooooo 😰😭
It was a joke! Yeah, a joke! I-I don't actually get scared thaaaaaaaat easily...hehe...
If you don't let me, then-then...I'm running away!
Yeah! Running away, and you can't do anything about it!
